Website Terms &

Conditions of use

Last updated: 2 September 2026

1. Introduction

These Website Terms & Conditions of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of www.peterallan.co.za (“the Website”).

The Website is operated by The Peter Allan Building Materials Trust trading as Peter Allan Timber (“Peter Allan Timber”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, you should not use the Website.

2. Purpose of the Website

The Website provides general information about Peter Allan Timber, our business, products, manufacturing capabilities and services.

The Website is primarily intended for trade and commercial customers. Peter Allan Timber is a specialist timber supplier and does not ordinarily supply directly to the general public.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Website is provided for information and enquiry purposes only and is not an e-commerce platform.

3. Website information is not an offer to sell

Product information, specifications, photographs, dimensions, grades, treatment options, availability, prices, downloadable documents and other information displayed on the Website do not constitute a binding offer by Peter Allan Timber to supply any product.

Submitting an enquiry, requesting a price list, requesting a quotation or contacting us through the Website does not create a contract or oblige Peter Allan Timber to supply any product.

Any sale is subject to:

  • our acceptance of the customer's order;

  • availability of the relevant product;

  • agreed pricing;

  • applicable credit arrangements;

  • our quotation, invoice and/or order confirmation;

  • delivery arrangements; and

  • Peter Allan Timber's applicable trading and sales terms.

Where there is any conflict between information on the Website and the terms of a specific quotation, order confirmation or written agreement issued by Peter Allan Timber, the latter will prevail.

4. Product information

We endeavour to ensure that product information on the Website is useful and accurate. However, timber is a natural material and products may vary.

Without limiting this principle:

  • colour, grain, knots, texture and appearance may vary between pieces and batches;

  • moisture content and environmental conditions may affect timber;

  • nominal and finished dimensions may differ;

  • machining and treatment may alter finished dimensions or appearance;

  • photographs are illustrative and may not exactly represent the product supplied;

  • grades, sizes, lengths and treatment options are subject to availability;

  • certain products are manufactured or treated to order and may be subject to production lead times; and

  • specifications and product ranges may be changed from time to time.

Customers should confirm their specific requirements with Peter Allan Timber before ordering.

5. Timber grades, treatment and certification

References on the Website to timber grades, treatment classifications, manufacturing standards, certifications or SANS/SABS requirements are intended to describe the relevant product or manufacturing process.

The suitability of a particular grade, treatment, timber species or product for a specific application depends on the intended use, environmental exposure, structural design and other project-specific circumstances.

Customers remain responsible for ensuring that products ordered are appropriate for their intended application and comply with any project specification, design or regulatory requirement.

Where certification or documentary confirmation is required for a particular project or order, this should be specifically requested and confirmed with Peter Allan Timber.

6. Structural and technical information

Any span tables, load information, structural information, application guidance, technical descriptions or similar information made available on the Website or in downloadable documents are provided as general guidance only.

They are not intended to constitute architectural, structural-engineering or other professional advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for a project-specific design prepared or approved by an appropriately qualified professional.

Actual structural requirements depend on factors including load, span, support conditions, wind conditions, environment, building configuration and intended use.

Where a rational design, engineer's specification or other professional design is required, the relevant professional specification must take precedence.

Peter Allan Timber manufactures and supplies timber products but does not, merely by providing information through the Website, assume responsibility for the structural design of a user's building or project.

7. Prices and downloadable documents

Any price list, catalogue, specification sheet, brochure or other document available through the Website is subject to change.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • prices are indicative only;

  • prices should be confirmed by quotation before an order is placed;

  • stock and availability are not guaranteed;

  • quoted delivery charges may depend on destination, order size and delivery requirements; and

  • the most recent written quotation or other written confirmation supplied by Peter Allan Timber will prevail over older Website content or downloaded documents.

Users should ensure that they are referring to the latest version of any downloaded document.

8. Availability and lead times

References to stock availability, standard products, made-to-order products or expected lead times are estimates or general indications unless specifically confirmed in writing for an individual order.

Availability may be affected by raw-material supply, production schedules, timber treatment, transport, breakdowns, supplier delays and other operational circumstances.

A delivery or production date becomes binding only where expressly agreed by Peter Allan Timber as part of a particular transaction.

9. Intellectual property

An automated confirmation that a form or message has been submitted does not constitute acceptance of an order, quotation request or other proposed transaction.

18. Changes to these Terms

Peter Allan Timber may amend these Terms from time to time.

The latest version will be published on the Website and will indicate the date on which it was last updated.

Continued use of the Website following publication of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those Terms to the extent permitted by law.

19. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

A failure by Peter Allan Timber to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other right.
